Phân Tích và Gợi Ý Trả Lời Chi Tiết
Question: Who do you spend most of your time with?
📝 Sample Answer – Band 6-7:
“I spend most of my time with my classmates because I’m a university student. We study together and sometimes hang out after class. I also spend time with my family on weekends.”
- Hạn chế: Từ vựng còn basic (hang out, spend time), thiếu chi tiết cụ thể về hoạt động
- Tại sao Band 6-7: Câu trả lời đầy đủ nhưng thiếu sự phát triển ý sâu sắc, sử dụng các cụm động từ phổ biến, cấu trúc câu đơn giản
📝 Sample Answer – Band 8-9:
“Well, I’d say the majority of my time is spent with my close-knit group of university friends. Since we’re all pursuing the same degree, we naturally gravitate towards each other for study sessions and group projects. Beyond academics, we’ve developed quite a strong bond, so we often catch up over coffee or explore new restaurants around the city. On weekends, though, I make it a point to reconnect with my family as that quality time really helps me recharge.”
Phân tích:
- Điểm mạnh: Sử dụng collocation tự nhiên (close-knit group, gravitate towards, strong bond, catch up over coffee), cấu trúc câu đa dạng với mệnh đề quan hệ, liên từ phụ thuộc (since, though, as).
- Tại sao Band 8-9: Fluency cao với discourse marker “Well, I’d say”, vocabulary tinh vi và natural, grammar structures phức tạp (make it a point to, helps me recharge), ý tưởng được phát triển logic với lý do và ví dụ cụ thể.
💡 Key Vocabulary & Expressions:
- catch up over coffee: gặp gỡ trò chuyện uống cà phê
- reconnect with: kết nối lại với
- recharge: nạp lại năng lượng
Question: Do you think family members have the biggest influence on young people?
- Giải thích lý do với ví dụ cụ thể
- Có thể thừa nhận sự phức tạp của vấn đề (depending on…)
📝 Sample Answer – Band 6-7:
“Yes, I think family members have the biggest influence on young people. This is because children spend a lot of time with their parents when they are young. Parents teach them many important things like values and behavior.”
Phân tích:
- Điểm mạnh: Có quan điểm rõ ràng, có lý do supporting
- Hạn chế: Từ vựng đơn giản (a lot of time, important things), thiếu ví dụ cụ thể, không nhìn nhận nhiều góc độ
📝 Sample Answer – Band 8-9:
“Well, I’d say family members typically have the most profound impact on young people, particularly during their formative years. This is because children are essentially shaped by the values, beliefs and behaviors they observe at home. For instance, if parents demonstrate qualities like perseverance and integrity, children tend to internalize these traits. That said, as teenagers grow older, peer influence becomes increasingly significant, and they may start to challenge some family values. So while family lays the foundation, other factors certainly come into play as well.”
Phân tích:
- Điểm mạnh: Vocabulary chính xác và academic (profound impact, formative years, shaped by, demonstrate, internalize, peer influence), sử dụng tentative language (typically, tend to, may), thừa nhận complexity với “That said” và “while…come into play”, grammar structures đa dạng với mệnh đề trạng ngữ.
- Tại sao Band 8-9: Shows critical thinking với việc xem xét nhiều góc độ, từ vựng precise và topic-specific, discourse markers natural (Well, For instance, That said, So while), fluency cao không hesitation.
💡 Key Vocabulary & Expressions:
- profound impact: ảnh hưởng sâu sắc
- formative years: những năm tháng hình thành tính cách
- be shaped by: được định hình bởi
- internalize: tiếp thu, nội hóa vào bản thân
- lay the foundation: đặt nền móng

Question: What qualities do you admire most in other people?
📝 Sample Answer – Band 6-7:
“I admire people who are honest and hardworking. I think honesty is very important in relationships, and hardworking people can achieve their goals. I also like people who are kind to others.”
- Hạn chế: Giải thích còn superficial, từ vựng basic (very important, achieve goals, kind to others)
📝 Sample Answer – Band 8-9:
“I’d say I’m particularly drawn to people who possess resilience and emotional intelligence. Resilience is crucial because life inevitably throws curveballs at us, and those who can bounce back from setbacks rather than dwelling on failures are truly inspiring. As for emotional intelligence, I find that people who can read social cues and empathize with others tend to build much stronger relationships. I also greatly admire intellectual curiosity – people who are always eager to learn and broaden their horizons rather than remaining in their comfort zone.”
Phân tích:
- Điểm mạnh: Sophisticated vocabulary (resilience, emotional intelligence, throws curveballs, bounce back from setbacks, dwelling on failures, read social cues, empathize, intellectual curiosity, broaden horizons), giải thích sâu sắc lý do cho mỗi quality, sử dụng discourse markers natural (I’d say, As for, I also), cấu trúc ngữ pháp phức tạp với relative clauses.
💡 Key Vocabulary & Expressions:
- resilience: sức bật, khả năng phục hồi
- throws curveballs at us: ném cho chúng ta những thử thách bất ngờ
- bounce back from setbacks: vượt qua khó khăn
- emotional intelligence: trí tuệ cảm xúc
- read social cues: đọc hiểu tín hiệu xã hội
- broaden one’s horizons: mở rộng tầm nhìn

📝 Sample Answer – Band 6-7
Thời lượng: Khoảng 1.5-2 phút
“I’d like to talk about my older sister who has had a positive influence on my life. She is five years older than me and we grew up together in the same house.
I’ve known her all my life, of course, because she’s my sister. When I was young, she always took care of me and helped me with my homework. She was a very good student and she always got high grades at school.
The main thing she did to influence me was showing me the importance of education. She studied very hard and got into a good university. She told me that if I wanted to be successful, I needed to work hard at school too. She also taught me to be more confident when talking to other people.
I feel very grateful to have her in my life. She is not just my sister but also my role model. I always ask her for advice when I have problems. I think she has helped me become a better person and I hope I can be like her in the future.”

📝 Sample Answer – Band 7.5-8
Thời lượng: Khoảng 2-2.5 phút
“I’d like to talk about my high school literature teacher, Mrs. Nguyen, who has had a profound impact on my life. She was in her late forties when I first met her, and she had this incredible passion for teaching that was truly contagious.
I got to know Mrs. Nguyen during my 10th grade year when she became my homeroom teacher. What immediately struck me about her was her genuine interest in each student’s wellbeing, not just their academic performance. She would always go the extra mile to understand our personal challenges and offer support.
What really influenced me the most was the way she instilled a love of reading in me. Before her class, I found literature quite boring, but she had this amazing ability to bring stories to life. She introduced me to various genres and encouraged me to think critically about what I read. Beyond academics, she taught me valuable life lessons about perseverance and believing in myself. I remember when I was struggling with low confidence, she pulled me aside and told me that I had potential that I wasn’t recognizing.
Looking back now, I feel immensely grateful for having had her as a teacher. She didn’t just teach me about literature – she shaped my perspective on learning and personal growth. Her encouragement helped me come out of my shell and pursue opportunities I would have otherwise avoided. I still keep in touch with her, and whenever I face difficulties, I often think about her advice and it gives me strength to keep going.”

📝 Sample Answer – Band 8.5-9
Thời lượng: 2.5-3 phút đầy đủ
“I’d like to talk about my maternal grandmother, who I’d consider to be the most influential figure in my life. She’s now in her early eighties, but her mental acuity and zest for life remain as sharp as ever.
I’ve known my grandmother since birth, naturally, but our bond truly deepened during my teenage years when I spent several summers living with her in the countryside. What sets her apart is her remarkable resilience – she weathered numerous hardships throughout her life, including the loss of her husband at a young age and raising three children single-handedly, yet she never succumbed to bitterness or despair.
The way she’s influenced me is quite multifaceted. First and foremost, she embodies the concept of lifelong learning. Despite having limited formal education, she’s voraciously curious about the world. I remember being utterly fascinated watching her learn to use a smartphone at seventy-five, purely because she wanted to video call her grandchildren. This taught me that age is no barrier to growth. Additionally, her approach to adversity has fundamentally shaped my mindset. She has this saying, “Don’t cry over spilled milk, but learn to walk more carefully,” which encapsulates her philosophy of taking setbacks in stride while learning from them. Perhaps most importantly, she instilled in me an unwavering sense of compassion. She was always the first to help neighbors in need, and through her actions, not just words, she demonstrated that genuine kindness costs nothing but enriches everyone it touches.
As for how I feel about her, I’d say my emotions are quite complex and profound. There’s obviously deep love and admiration, but there’s also this sense of urgency – knowing that time is finite makes me cherish every conversation we have even more. She’s not just shaped who I am but also who I aspire to be. Her influence permeates virtually every aspect of my life, from how I handle challenges to how I treat others. I genuinely believe that having her as a guiding light has made me more grounded, empathetic, and optimistic, and I can only hope to pass on her wisdom to the next generation as she has done for me.”

Các Câu Hỏi Thảo Luận Sâu
Theme 1: Influence and Role Models
Question 1: Why do you think some people have more influence on others than others?
🎯 Phân tích câu hỏi:
- Dạng: Cause and Reason (Tại sao/nguyên nhân)
- Key words: some people, more influence, than others
- Cách tiếp cận: Direct answer → Reason 1 + explanation/example → Reason 2 + explanation/example → Brief conclusion
📝 Sample Answer – Band 6-7:
“I think some people have more influence because they have strong personalities. Also, people who are successful or famous can influence others more easily. For example, celebrities have many followers on social media, so their opinions reach many people. Another reason is that some people are good communicators and can express their ideas clearly.”
- Vocabulary: Adequate nhưng basic (strong personalities, successful, famous, good communicators)
“Well, I’d say there are several factors that contribute to someone having greater influence. First and foremost, charisma plays a significant role – individuals who possess natural magnetism and the ability to articulate their thoughts compellingly tend to draw people towards them. Think of figures like Steve Jobs or Nelson Mandela; their influence wasn’t just about what they said, but how they conveyed their message with passion and conviction.
Additionally, credibility is crucial. People are more likely to be influenced by those who have demonstrated expertise or achieved tangible success in their field. For instance, a business leader who’s built a successful enterprise from scratch will naturally have more sway over aspiring entrepreneurs than someone who just talks the talk but hasn’t walked the walk.
I’d also argue that relatability matters tremendously. Sometimes, people are more influenced by those they can identify with rather than distant celebrities. A teacher or a family member who genuinely understands our struggles might have more profound impact than someone famous but disconnected from our reality. At the end of the day, influence is about connecting with people on multiple levels – emotional, intellectual, and practical.”
Phân tích:
- Structure: Well-organized với clear discourse markers (First and foremost, Additionally, I’d also argue, At the end of the day). Direct answer → Multiple reasons với detailed explanations → Nuanced conclusion
- Vocabulary: Sophisticated và precise (contribute to, charisma, natural magnetism, articulate compellingly, draw people towards, demonstrated expertise, tangible success, relatability, identify with). Topic-specific terms (credibility, sway, conviction)
- Grammar: Complex structures với relative clauses (who possess, who have demonstrated), inversion (Think of figures like), parallel structure (not just about…but how). Mix của tenses appropriate
- Critical Thinking: Multiple perspectives considered (charisma, credibility, relatability), balanced view với examples từ different domains (business leaders, teachers, family), acknowledges complexity trong conclusion
💡 Key Language Features:
- Discourse markers: Well, I’d say, First and foremost, Additionally, For instance, At the end of the day
- Tentative language: tend to, more likely to, might have, I’d argue that
- Abstract nouns: charisma, magnetism, credibility, relatability, conviction, expertise
- Sophisticated collocations: contribute to, draw people towards, demonstrated expertise, tangible success, talks the talk, walks the walk, identify with
Question 2: Do you think parents or friends have more influence on teenagers?
🎯 Phân tích câu hỏi:
- Dạng: Compare and Contrast
- Key words: parents, friends, more influence, teenagers
- Cách tiếp cận: Acknowledge both sides → Explain influence của parents → Explain influence của friends → Nuanced conclusion (it depends on…)
📝 Sample Answer – Band 6-7:
“That’s a difficult question. I think both parents and friends influence teenagers. Parents influence teenagers about important values and education. However, friends influence teenagers more about fashion and hobbies. In my opinion, friends have more influence because teenagers spend more time with friends and want to be accepted by their peer group.”
Phân tích:
- Structure: Có acknowledge both sides và conclusion
- Vocabulary: Basic (important values, education, fashion, hobbies, peer group)
“Well, this is quite a nuanced question because the answer really hinges on various factors. Generally speaking, I’d say the type of influence differs between parents and friends, and teenagers are shaped by both in distinct ways.
On the one hand, parents typically have a foundational influence on core values, ethical frameworks, and long-term goals. Their impact is often more subtle but enduring – the principles they instill during childhood tend to persist even when teenagers appear to be rebelling. Research suggests that when it comes to major life decisions about education or career, parental guidance still holds considerable weight.
On the other hand, peer influence becomes increasingly prominent during adolescence, particularly regarding day-to-day choices and social behavior. Teenagers are navigating their identity formation, and friends serve as a mirror and testing ground for different personas. This is why we see such strong conformity to peer norms in areas like fashion, music preferences, or social media behavior – teenagers are essentially seeking validation and establishing their place within their social circle.
That said, I believe the degree of influence fluctuates depending on the teenager’s relationship with their parents. Those who have open, communicative relationships with parents might strike a balance between parental wisdom and peer input more successfully. Conversely, teenagers who feel disconnected from their families may gravitate more heavily towards friend groups for guidance, which can be both positive and potentially problematic depending on the peer group’s values.”
- Vocabulary: Advanced và precise (nuanced question, hinges on, foundational influence, ethical frameworks, subtle but enduring, instill, persist, navigating identity formation, mirror and testing ground, conformity to peer norms, seeking validation, strike a balance, gravitate heavily towards)
- Grammar: Variety of complex structures (when it comes to, the degree of…depends on, those who have, conversely), conditionals, relative clauses, gerunds as subjects
- Critical Thinking: Deep analysis về different types of influence, acknowledges complexity and variables (relationship quality, areas of life), balanced view không extreme, supported với reasoning và research reference
💡 Key Language Features:
- Discourse markers: Generally speaking, On the one hand, On the other hand, That said, Conversely
- Tentative language: typically, tends to, suggests that, might, can be both
- Abstract nouns: nuance, ethical frameworks, conformity, validation, identity formation
- Collocations: hinges on, holds considerable weight, navigating identity, strike a balance, gravitate towards

For example, some famous athletes inspire children to play sports and stay healthy.”
Phân tích:
- Structure: Có multiple ways với examples
- Vocabulary: Adequate (raise awareness, support charities, role models, inspire)
“Famous people have tremendous potential to be catalysts for positive change in several significant ways.
Firstly, they can leverage their platform to shine a spotlight on pressing social issues that might otherwise go unnoticed. Take environmental activism, for instance – when Leonardo DiCaprio uses his celebrity status to champion climate action, he’s not just raising awareness but galvanizing millions of people to reconsider their lifestyle choices. Their voice can amplify messages that grassroots movements struggle to break through the noise of modern media.
Secondly, famous individuals often serve as powerful role models, particularly for impressionable young people who are searching for inspiration. When a successful entrepreneur like Elon Musk openly discusses his failures before achieving success, it normalizes the concept of resilience and perseverance in the face of setbacks. This can be profoundly influential in shaping young people’s attitudes toward challenges.
Additionally, celebrities can mobilize resources on a scale that ordinary individuals cannot. Their fundraising capacity for charitable causes is remarkable – a single celebrity concert or social media campaign can generate millions in donations for disaster relief, medical research, or education initiatives in underprivileged communities.
However, I should note that this influence cuts both ways – it requires the celebrity to use their platform responsibly. When they do, the ripple effect of their positive actions can permeate throughout society, fostering greater awareness, empathy, and action on critical issues.”
Phân tích:
- Structure: Exceptionally well-organized với three distinct ways clearly delineated (Firstly, Secondly, Additionally) và thoughtful conclusion acknowledging responsibility
- Vocabulary: Sophisticated và varied (tremendous potential, catalysts for change, leverage their platform, shine a spotlight on, galvanizing millions, amplify, break through the noise, normalizes, mobilize resources, fundraising capacity, underprivileged communities, cuts both ways, ripple effect, permeate, fostering)
- Grammar: Complex structures consistently (when Leonardo DiCaprio uses, who are searching for, that ordinary individuals cannot), advanced verb patterns (leverage to shine, use to champion, require to use), parallel structures
- Critical Thinking: Multiple dimensions explored với specific examples (DiCaprio climate activism, Elon Musk resilience), acknowledges nuance với “cuts both ways”, shows understanding of mechanisms (platform leverage, resource mobilization, role modeling)
💡 Key Language Features:
- Discourse markers: Firstly, Secondly, Additionally, However, For instance, Take…for instance
- Tentative language: might otherwise, can be, often serve as
- Abstract nouns: potential, catalyst, activism, resilience, perseverance, capacity, awareness, empathy

Question 4: How has technology changed the way people influence each other?
🎯 Phân tích câu hỏi:
- Dạng: Change/Transformation (Sự thay đổi như thế nào)
- Key words: technology, changed, way people influence
- Cách tiếp cận: Acknowledge change → Explain past methods → Explain current methods → Discuss implications (positive and negative)
📝 Sample Answer – Band 6-7:
“Technology has changed influence a lot. In the past, only famous people on TV or newspapers could influence many people. Now, anyone can influence others through social media. Regular people can become influencers and share their opinions with millions of followers. Technology makes it faster to spread ideas. However, sometimes this means false information also spreads quickly.”
Phân tích:
- Structure: Has past-present comparison và mention implications
- Vocabulary: Basic (social media, influencers, spread ideas, false information)
“Technology has fundamentally transformed the landscape of influence in ways that would have been unimaginable just a couple of decades ago.
Traditionally, influence was largely hierarchical and unidirectional – it flowed from established authorities like political leaders, academics, or media outlets down to the masses. The gatekeepers of information determined what messages reached the public, and ordinary individuals had limited capacity to amplify their voices beyond their immediate circle.
In contrast, today’s digital ecosystem has democratized influence to an unprecedented degree. Social media platforms have leveled the playing field, enabling virtually anyone with an internet connection to build a following and shape public discourse. We’re seeing the rise of micro-influencers – individuals who may not be traditionally famous but wield significant sway within niche communities. A teenager creating TikTok videos from their bedroom can potentially reach millions and spark trends that ripple through mainstream culture.
This shift has several profound implications. On the positive side, we’re seeing greater diversity of voices and perspectives – marginalized communities can bypass traditional gatekeepers and share their narratives directly. Grassroots movements can gain momentum rapidly; social justice campaigns that might have taken years to build awareness can now go viral in days.
However, this democratization comes with significant downsides. The barrier to entry being so low means that misinformation and polarizing content can spread just as rapidly as valuable information. The algorithms that govern these platforms often prioritize engagement over accuracy, which can create echo chambers where people are only exposed to views that reinforce their existing beliefs. Additionally, the metrics-driven nature of social media – likes, shares, followers – can lead to superficial forms of influence focused more on virality than substance.
What’s particularly interesting is that influence has become more fragmented yet more immediate. Rather than a few dominant voices shaping society, we now have countless micro-spheres of influence, each with its own dynamics and power structures. The speed at which influence operates has also accelerated dramatically – a single tweet can trigger global conversations within hours.”
Phân tích:
- Structure: Exceptional organization với clear progression (traditional methods → modern methods → positive implications → negative implications → final observation). Each point fully developed với examples
- Vocabulary: Highly sophisticated (fundamentally transformed, unimaginable, hierarchical and unidirectional, gatekeepers, democratized, leveled the playing field, wield significant sway, bypass traditional gatekeepers, gain momentum, go viral, barrier to entry, misinformation, echo chambers, metrics-driven, virality, fragmented, micro-spheres of influence)
- Grammar: Full range of complex structures (would have been unimaginable, enabling virtually anyone to build, who may not be, that might have taken, the algorithms that govern, views that reinforce)
- Critical Thinking: Deep analysis về transformation mechanism, balanced view về both positive (diversity, grassroots movements) và negative aspects (misinformation, echo chambers, superficiality), insights about fragmentation và speed, shows sophisticated understanding of societal dynamics
💡 Key Language Features:
- Discourse markers: Traditionally, In contrast, On the positive side, However, What’s particularly interesting, Additionally
- Tentative language: would have been, can potentially, might have taken, often prioritize
- Abstract nouns: landscape, hierarchy, democratization, implications, momentum, fragmentation, dynamics
- Advanced collocations: fundamentally transformed, leveled the playing field, wield sway, spark trends, ripple through, gain momentum, go viral, barrier to entry, echo chambers

Question 5: What qualities should a good role model have?
🎯 Phân tích câu hỏi:
- Dạng: Characteristics/Qualities (Những đặc điểm nào)
- Key words: qualities, good role model, should have
- Cách tiếp cận: Direct answer → Quality 1 + explanation/why important → Quality 2 + explanation → Quality 3 + explanation → Brief conclusion
📝 Sample Answer – Band 6-7:
“A good role model should have several important qualities. First, they should be honest and trustworthy so people can believe in them. Second, they should work hard and be successful in their field to inspire others. Also, a good role model should be kind and help other people. They need to show good behavior because many people, especially young people, will copy them.”
Phân tích:
- Structure: Lists qualities với brief explanations
- Vocabulary: Basic (honest, trustworthy, work hard, successful, kind, good behavior)
“I’d say a truly effective role model should embody several key qualities that extend beyond mere professional success.
First and foremost, authenticity is crucial. People can sense inauthenticity from a mile away, so role models need to be genuine rather than projecting a carefully curated image. When someone like Michelle Obama openly acknowledges her struggles and vulnerabilities, it actually makes her more relatable and her achievements more inspiring because people see the real journey, not just the polished end result.
Secondly, integrity is non-negotiable. A role model should demonstrate consistency between their words and actions, especially when faced with difficult choices. This means standing by their principles even when it’s inconvenient or costly. Without integrity, any influence they have is built on shaky foundations and will eventually crumble.
I’d also argue that humility is essential. The best role models don’t flaunt their achievements or act superior; instead, they acknowledge the role that luck, support from others, and circumstances played in their success. This creates a more realistic roadmap for others to follow, rather than the myth of the self-made individual who succeeded purely through personal effort.
Additionally, resilience is vital because role models inevitably face setbacks, and how they handle failure is often more instructive than how they handle success. When J.K. Rowling talks about being rejected by multiple publishers before Harry Potter was accepted, she’s teaching that perseverance in the face of rejection is part of any worthwhile journey.
Finally, I believe a good role model should demonstrate social consciousness – an awareness of and commitment to issues beyond their personal success. Whether it’s advocating for social justice, environmental sustainability, or simply treating everyone with respect regardless of their status, this shows that success doesn’t exist in a vacuum and that we all have responsibilities to contribute positively to society.
All in all, the most impactful role models are those who inspire not through perfection but through their authentic, principled, humble, resilient, and socially conscious approach to both success and failure.”
Rowling). Strong conclusion synthesizing all points
- Vocabulary: Sophisticated và precise (embody, authenticity, sense inauthenticity, carefully curated image, openly acknowledges, polished end result, integrity, non-negotiable, standing by principles, built on shaky foundations, crumble, humility, flaunt achievements, realistic roadmap, self-made individual, resilience, perseverance, social consciousness, vacuum, responsibilities to contribute)
- Grammar: Complex structures throughout (should embody, when someone openly acknowledges, even when it’s inconvenient, what luck played, how they handle, whether it’s advocating), variety of tenses, advanced constructions
- Critical Thinking: Deep analysis về each quality với nuanced explanations, specific examples from real people, acknowledges complexity (success doesn’t exist in vacuum), balanced view về what makes role models effective, sophisticated understanding về psychology of influence
💡 Key Language Features:
- Discourse markers: First and foremost, Secondly, I’d also argue, Additionally, Finally, All in all
- Tentative language: I’d say, should embody, often more instructive, I believe
- Abstract nouns: authenticity, integrity, humility, resilience, perseverance, consciousness, vacuum, responsibilities
- Advanced collocations: sense inauthenticity, curated image, openly acknowledges, standing by principles, built on shaky foundations, flaunt achievements, social consciousness, exist in a vacuum
Question 6: Do you think it’s important for children to have role models outside their family?
- Key words: important, children, role models, outside family
- Cách tiếp cận: State opinion → Reason 1 with explanation → Reason 2 with explanation → Acknowledge other side briefly → Conclusion
📝 Sample Answer – Band 6-7:
“Yes, I think it’s important for children to have role models outside their family. This is because they can learn different things from different people. For example, teachers can teach them about education and sports coaches can teach them about teamwork. Also, having different role models helps children see different career paths and ways of life. However, family is still the most important influence.”
Phân tích:
- Structure: Clear opinion với reasons
- Vocabulary: Basic (learn different things, teach them, career paths, ways of life)
“Absolutely, I believe having role models beyond the family circle is tremendously valuable for children’s development, though this should complement rather than replace familial influence.
One key reason is exposure to diverse perspectives and possibilities. While families provide fundamental values and initial guidance, external role models can broaden children’s horizons by demonstrating alternative ways of thinking, being, and succeeding. A child from a family of, say, accountants might never conceive of becoming an artist, scientist, or social entrepreneur without encountering role models in those fields who spark that imagination. These outside influences essentially expand the menu of possible identities a child can envision for themselves.
Moreover, external role models can help children develop qualities that their immediate family might not exemplify. Perhaps a child’s parents are conflict-averse, but a teacher who skillfully navigates disagreements can model constructive conflict resolution. Or a sports coach might instill discipline and teamwork in ways that complement but differ from parental approaches. This multiplicity of influences creates a richer tapestry of character development.
Additionally, having role models outside the family can provide crucial validation for children whose interests or identities diverge from family norms. For instance, a child passionate about technology in a family of artists might feel out of place until they encounter a mentor in the tech field who validates their path. This can be especially important for children navigating identity issues related to gender, sexuality, or cultural heritage, where seeing someone they can relate to succeeding can be profoundly affirming.
That said, I should emphasize that these external influences work best when they’re thoughtfully integrated with family values rather than contradicting them. Parents who actively facilitate positive connections with teachers, coaches, or community leaders can help children synthesize multiple perspectives into their developing worldview rather than feeling torn between conflicting models.
In essence, while family lays the groundwork, external role models help children build upon that foundation in diverse and enriching ways, ultimately fostering more well-rounded individuals.”
Phân tích:
- Structure: Sophisticated organization with clear opinion → three well-developed reasons (diverse perspectives, complementary qualities, validation) → important caveat about integration → synthesizing conclusion
- Vocabulary: Highly advanced (tremendously valuable, complement rather than replace, exposure to diverse perspectives, broaden horizons, conceive of becoming, spark imagination, expand the menu of possible identities, conflict-averse, skillfully navigates, instill discipline, multiplicity of influences, richer tapestry, crucial validation, diverge from, out of place, profoundly affirming, thoughtfully integrated, synthesize perspectives, lays the groundwork, fostering)
- Grammar: Full range of complex structures (though this should complement, while families provide, might never conceive without encountering, whose interests diverge, rather than feeling torn)
💡 Key Language Features:
- Discourse markers: Absolutely, One key reason, Moreover, Additionally, That said, In essence
- Tentative language: I believe, can help, might not exemplify, work best when
- Abstract nouns: exposure, perspectives, possibilities, imagination, validation, identities, synthesis, foundation

Lời Khuyên Cuối Cùng Từ IELTS Examiner
Sau hơn 20 năm chấm thi IELTS Speaking, tôi muốn chia sẻ những insights quan trọng nhất giúp bạn đạt điểm cao với chủ đề “Describe a person who has positively influenced your life”:
3. Sử dụng specific examples và personal details:
- Thay vì nói “she was kind”, hãy nói “I remember when she spent her entire weekend helping me prepare for my university entrance exam”
4. Show emotional depth:
- Band 8-9 answers thường demonstrate genuine emotion và reflection
- Đừng chỉ list qualities – explain HOW và WHY người đó influenced you
- Share personal transformation hoặc realizations
5. Time management trong Part 2:
- Practice speaking for exactly 2 minutes nhiều lần
- Đừng rush qua các bullet points – develop mỗi point adequately
- Dành nhiều thời gian nhất cho phần “explain how you feel” (30-40 giây)
6. Pronunciation tips:
- Slow down nếu bạn naturally speak nhanh
- Sử dụng natural pauses để emphasize important points
- Vary your intonation để avoid monotone delivery
- Word stress quan trọng hơn individual sound accuracy
7. Common mistakes của học viên Việt Nam:
- Sử dụng quá nhiều “very” thay vì descriptive adjectives
- Lặp lại những từ giống nhau (she, I, good, important)
- Over-using formal academic vocabulary không phù hợp cho speaking
- Không develop ideas đủ sâu trong Part 3
8. Practice strategy:
- Practice with timer để develop sense of pacing
- Get feedback từ teachers hoặc proficient speakers
- Expose yourself to authentic English (podcasts, interviews) để learn natural expressions
Examiners muốn hear YOUR voice, YOUR ideas, expressed clearly và naturally với appropriate language. Authenticity combined với strong language skills sẽ always score higher than memorized perfect answers delivered robotically.
Chúc bạn thành công với kỳ thi IELTS Speaking sắp tới!
