“I’d like to talk about Mrs. Hoa, who is my English teacher at high school. I’ve known her for about three years since I started in grade 10, and she teaches English to all the classes in my grade.
Mrs. Hoa is in her late thirties, and she’s quite tall with short hair. She always dresses very professionally and looks neat. She’s a very friendly person and always smiles when she sees students.
She teaches English, which includes grammar, reading, and speaking skills. Our classes are usually twice a week, and she uses a lot of different materials like videos, songs, and games to make the lessons more interesting. She also gives us homework after every class.
I think she’s a good teacher for several reasons. First, she’s very patient. When students don’t understand something, she explains it again and again until everyone gets it. She never gets angry or frustrated. Second, she makes learning fun. Instead of just reading from textbooks, she brings real-life examples and interesting activities to class. For example, she once organized a debate competition about environmental issues, which was really exciting.
Another reason is that she cares about her students. She always asks if we have any problems and tries to help us. When I was struggling with English grammar last semester, she gave me extra exercises and spent time after class to help me improve.
Overall, Mrs. Hoa has made me more interested in learning English, and I’ve improved a lot thanks to her teaching methods.”

📝 Sample Answer – Band 7.5-8
Thời lượng: Khoảng 2-2.5 phút
“I’d like to tell you about Mr. Nam, who has been my literature teacher throughout high school and someone I genuinely admire for his exceptional teaching abilities.
I first met Mr. Nam when I was in grade 10, and he’s been my homeroom teacher as well as my literature instructor for the past three years. He’s a man in his mid-forties with graying hair and a distinguished appearance that somehow commands respect without being intimidating. What strikes me most about him is his warm demeanor and the way his eyes light up whenever he discusses poetry or classic novels.
Mr. Nam specializes in Vietnamese literature, though he also teaches world literature to senior classes. His classes are renowned throughout the school for being both challenging and deeply engaging. He has this remarkable talent for making centuries-old poems feel relevant to our modern lives.
What makes him an outstanding educator in my view are several qualities. Firstly, his teaching approach is incredibly thought-provoking. Rather than simply lecturing about literary techniques, he facilitates discussions where students can interpret texts from different perspectives. I remember one class where we spent an entire period analyzing a single poem, and everyone came away with different insights – that’s when I realized literature isn’t about finding the “right” answer but about developing critical thinking.
Secondly, Mr. Nam has an infectious passion for his subject. You can tell he doesn’t see teaching as just a job; it’s his calling. This enthusiasm is contagious – even students who initially found literature boring have become more engaged in his classes. He often draws parallels between classical literature and contemporary issues, which helps us understand why these old texts still matter today.
What I appreciate most is his genuine investment in students’ growth, both academically and personally. He’s always available for one-on-one consultations and provides constructive feedback that goes beyond just grades. Last year, when I was struggling with my college application essay, he spent hours helping me refine my ideas and find my authentic voice.
Thanks to Mr. Nam, literature has transformed from my least favorite subject to something I’m now considering studying at university. That’s the mark of a truly great teacher – someone who can ignite a passion you didn’t know you had.”

📝 Sample Answer – Band 8.5-9
Thời lượng: 2.5-3 phút đầy đủ
“I’d like to talk about Dr. Linh, my former mathematics professor at university, who I consider to be the epitome of an exceptional educator and whose teaching philosophy has profoundly shaped my approach to learning.
I had the privilege of being Dr. Linh’s student during my first two years at university, where she taught advanced calculus and mathematical analysis. She’s a woman in her early fifties with an unassuming presence – not particularly tall, with silver-streaked hair often tied back in a practical bun, and wire-rimmed glasses that give her a scholarly appearance. But don’t let her understated exterior fool you; she possesses an intellectual intensity and pedagogical brilliance that’s truly unparalleled.
What distinguishes Dr. Linh from other educators I’ve encountered is her multifaceted approach to teaching mathematics. She doesn’t subscribe to the traditional chalk-and-talk methodology that plagues many mathematics courses. Instead, she’s a proponent of the Socratic method, employing strategic questioning to guide students toward discovering mathematical concepts themselves rather than simply spoon-feeding information. I vividly recall a particularly challenging lesson on limits where, instead of directly explaining the concept, she posed a series of increasingly thought-provoking questions that led us through the reasoning process. It was intellectually demanding but incredibly rewarding when the understanding finally clicked into place.
What truly sets her apart is her unwavering commitment to nurturing intellectual curiosity rather than merely achieving high exam scores. She often says, “I’m not here to help you ace exams; I’m here to help you fall in love with the elegance of mathematical reasoning.” This philosophy permeates everything she does. She regularly goes above and beyond the curriculum, introducing us to cutting-edge research and real-world applications that demonstrate the relevance of abstract mathematical concepts. For instance, she once organized a guest lecture series featuring mathematicians working in fields ranging from cryptography to climate modeling, which opened my eyes to the vast possibilities within mathematics.
Her approach to assessment is equally progressive. Rather than relying solely on traditional exams, she incorporates project-based assignments where students tackle open-ended problems that have no single correct solution. This cultivates the kind of creative problem-solving and analytical thinking that’s essential in the real world. I remember working on a semester project analyzing traffic flow patterns using differential equations – it was grueling but taught me more about applied mathematics than any textbook could.
Beyond her pedagogical innovations, what makes Dr. Linh truly exceptional is her genuine empathy and emotional intelligence. She has this uncanny ability to read her students’ emotional states and adjust her approach accordingly. When I was going through a difficult period and my performance was declining, she didn’t just reprimand me; she reached out privately, offered support, and helped me develop strategies to regain my footing. That level of personalized attention in a class of 50 students is remarkable.
Perhaps the ultimate testament to her excellence is the lasting impact she’s had on her students’ trajectories. Many of us, myself included, have pursued research or careers in STEM fields directly because of the intellectual curiosity she instilled in us. She didn’t just teach us mathematics; she taught us how to think, how to question, and how to approach complex problems with confidence and rigor.
In my view, Dr. Linh embodies the qualities that define an extraordinary teacher: deep subject mastery, innovative pedagogy, genuine care for students, and the ability to inspire and transform learners. She’s living proof that great teaching is as much an art as it is a science.”

Question 1: Do you still keep in contact with this teacher?
Band 6-7 Answer:
“Yes, I do. I sometimes message her on social media to say hello, especially during Teacher’s Day. We don’t meet often, but I always feel grateful for her help during my school years.”
Band 8-9 Answer:
“Actually, yes. We’ve maintained sporadic contact over the years, primarily through email and the occasional social media interaction. I made a point of reaching out to her when I got accepted to university to share the news, and she was genuinely thrilled. While we don’t have regular face-to-face meetings, the connection we formed has endured, which I think speaks to the profound impact she had on my educational journey.”

Các Câu Hỏi Thảo Luận Sâu
Theme 1: Qualities and Characteristics of Good Teachers
Question 1: What are the most important qualities that teachers need to be successful?
- Key words: “most important”, “successful” – cần prioritize và explain
- Cách tiếp cận: Chọn 2-3 qualities chính → Explain why each is crucial → Examples từ educational context → Brief conclusion
📝 Sample Answer – Band 6-7:
“I think there are several important qualities for teachers. First, they need to be patient because students learn at different speeds, and some need more time to understand things. Second, teachers should have good communication skills so they can explain difficult concepts clearly. Also, they need to be enthusiastic about their subject to make students interested. For example, if a teacher is passionate about history, students will find the subject more exciting too. These qualities help teachers do their job effectively.”
Phân tích:
- Structure: Có organization với First, Second, Also
- Vocabulary: Adequate nhưng basic (patient, good communication skills, enthusiastic)
“Well, I’d argue that successful teaching hinges on a combination of several key competencies. First and foremost, teachers need exceptional communication skills – not merely the ability to articulate concepts clearly, but also to gauge their audience and tailor their delivery to different learning styles. A teacher might be a world expert in their field, but if they can’t distill complex ideas into digestible chunks, that expertise becomes largely irrelevant in an educational context.
Equally crucial is what I’d call pedagogical empathy – the capacity to put yourself in students’ shoes and understand their struggles. I think this goes hand in hand with patience, but it’s actually more sophisticated than just being tolerant. It’s about anticipating where students might stumble and proactively addressing those challenges. Teachers who possess this quality can create a psychologically safe environment where students feel comfortable taking intellectual risks and learning from mistakes.
On top of that, I’d say genuine subject passion is indispensable. When teachers are truly enamored with their subject matter, that enthusiasm becomes contagious. Students can instinctively sense the difference between someone who’s merely going through the motions and someone who’s genuinely excited about sharing knowledge. This passion often translates into going the extra mile – staying current with research, finding creative ways to make content engaging, and inspiring curiosity beyond what’s in the textbook.
That being said, I think it’s worth noting that these qualities need to be complemented by continuous professional development and adaptability, especially in today’s rapidly evolving educational landscape where technology and pedagogical approaches are constantly changing.”
Phân tích:
- Structure: Well-organized với discourse markers (First and foremost, Equally crucial, On top of that, That being said) tạo clear progression
- Vocabulary: Sophisticated và precise (hinges on, distill complex ideas, pedagogical empathy, indispensable, going through the motions, complemented by)
- Grammar: Complex structures – conditional, relative clauses, participial phrases, cleft sentences
- Critical Thinking: Goes beyond listing qualities to analyze why they matter và how they interact; acknowledges nuances (empathy vs. patience); considers contemporary context (rapidly evolving landscape)
💡 Key Language Features:
- Discourse markers: Well, First and foremost, Equally crucial, On top of that, That being said
- Tentative language: I’d argue that, I think, I’d say – shows sophistication, không overconfident
- Abstract nouns: pedagogical empathy, intellectual risks, professional development
- Sophisticated collocations: hinges on, gauge their audience, distill ideas, goes hand in hand with, instinctively sense
Question 2: Do you think teaching skills are natural talents or can they be learned and developed?
🎯 Phân tích câu hỏi:
- Dạng: Nature vs. Nurture debate – cần thảo luận cả hai sides
- Key words: “natural talents” vs. “learned and developed”
- Cách tiếp cận: Acknowledge both perspectives → Discuss each with reasoning → Personal stance hoặc balanced conclusion
📝 Sample Answer – Band 6-7:
“I think it’s a combination of both. Some people are naturally good at explaining things and have patience, which helps in teaching. However, teaching methods and classroom management can definitely be learned through training and experience. Many teachers improve over time as they practice and learn from their mistakes. So while natural talent helps, I believe anyone with dedication can become a good teacher through proper education and practice.”
“That’s a fascinating question that actually sparks considerable debate within educational circles. I think the reality is far more nuanced than a simple either-or scenario.
On the one hand, there’s certainly an element of innate aptitude that can’t be discounted. Some individuals seem to possess a natural affinity for connecting with learners and an intuitive sense of how to break down complex concepts. They might have inherent charisma or interpersonal intelligence that makes classroom management seem effortless. I’ve encountered teachers who, right from their first day, just seemed to have a knack for engaging students and creating dynamic learning environments.
That said, I’m firmly convinced that the majority of teaching competencies are acquirable through systematic training and deliberate practice. Modern pedagogical research has demystified much of what makes effective teaching, from evidence-based instructional strategies to data-driven assessment methods. Take classroom management, for instance – while some teachers might naturally command respect, there are proven techniques and frameworks that can be taught and implemented by anyone willing to invest the effort.
What’s more, I’d argue that sustained excellence in teaching requires continuous learning regardless of one’s natural abilities. Education is an evolving field – what worked twenty years ago might be less effective today given changes in student demographics, technology integration, and our understanding of cognitive development. Even naturally gifted teachers need to stay abreast of pedagogical innovations and refine their craft through professional development.
To synthesize these perspectives, I believe teaching is similar to many other complex skills like music or athletics – natural talent provides an initial advantage and perhaps a higher ceiling, but dedication, training, and experience are the primary determinants of success. Someone with modest natural ability but unwavering commitment to improvement can often surpass more naturally talented individuals who rest on their laurels. The ideal, of course, is when natural aptitude is coupled with rigorous training and ongoing development.”
Phân tích:
- Structure: Sophisticated với clear signposting: introduces complexity (nuanced) → presents one view (On the one hand) → presents counter-view (That said) → adds additional dimension (What’s more) → synthesizes (To synthesize)
- Vocabulary: Precise và academic (sparks considerable debate, innate aptitude, natural affinity, demystified, acquirable, sustained excellence, primary determinants)
- Grammar: Wide range – relative clauses, conditional, comparatives, complex noun phrases
- Critical Thinking:
- Rejects false dichotomy, acknowledges complexity
- Draws on different domains (pedagogical research, cognitive development)
- Uses analogy (music, athletics) to clarify argument
- Considers temporal dimension (changes over time)
- Reaches nuanced conclusion balancing both factors
💡 Key Language Features:
- Acknowledging complexity: “far more nuanced than”, “can’t be discounted”
- Balancing views: “On the one hand… That said”
- Strengthening arguments: “I’m firmly convinced”, “I’d argue”
- Academic vocabulary: inherent, acquirable, demystified, sustained excellence
- Synthesizing: “To synthesize these perspectives”
Theme 2: Changes in Education and Teaching Methods
Question 3: How have teaching methods changed compared to the past?
🎯 Phân tích câu hỏi:
- Dạng: Compare & Contrast (past vs. present)
- Key words: “changed”, “compared to the past”
- Cách tiếp cận: Identify key changes → Explain drivers of change → Evaluate impacts (positive/negative) → Brief outlook
📝 Sample Answer – Band 6-7:
“Teaching methods have changed a lot. In the past, teaching was more traditional with teachers lecturing and students just listening and taking notes. Now, teaching is more interactive with group work, discussions, and technology like computers and projectors. Teachers also focus more on critical thinking rather than just memorization. These changes have made learning more interesting and effective for students today compared to previous generations.”
“The pedagogical landscape has undergone dramatic transformation over the past few decades, driven primarily by technological advancement and evolving understanding of how people learn.
Perhaps the most conspicuous shift has been away from the traditional teacher-centric model – what we might call the “sage on the stage” approach – toward more student-centered, constructivist methodologies. Where education once predominantly featured passive absorption of information through lectures and rote memorization, contemporary classrooms increasingly emphasize active learning, collaborative problem-solving, and hands-on exploration. This shift stems from cognitive research showing that students retain information more effectively when they’re actively engaged in constructing their own understanding rather than merely receiving knowledge passively.
Technology has been a game-changer in this evolution. The integration of digital tools has fundamentally altered not just how content is delivered, but also what’s possible in terms of personalized learning paths and immediate feedback loops. Where teachers once had to adopt a one-size-fits-all approach, adaptive learning platforms now allow instruction to be tailored to individual needs and pacing. Moreover, technology has democratized access to information – students are no longer wholly dependent on their teachers as gatekeepers of knowledge, which has necessitated a reimagining of the teacher’s role from information provider to learning facilitator and critical thinking coach.
Another significant development has been the growing emphasis on soft skills and 21st-century competencies like creativity, communication, and collaboration, alongside traditional academic content. This reflects the recognition that in our rapidly changing world, the ability to adapt, think critically, and work effectively in diverse teams may be more valuable than mastery of static facts that can quickly become outdated.
However, it’s worth noting that these changes are unevenly distributed. While well-resourced schools in developed nations might be at the forefront of these innovations, many educational contexts – whether due to resource constraints, infrastructure limitations, or cultural factors – still rely heavily on more traditional approaches. The digital divide remains a sobering reality that prevents many learners from benefiting from these pedagogical advances.”
Phân tích:
- Structure: Highly organized với clear thematic progression: nature of shift → technology’s role → skills focus → acknowledgment of limitations
- Vocabulary: Sophisticated và varied (pedagogical landscape, conspicuous shift, constructivist methodologies, game-changer, democratized access, gatekeepers of knowledge, sobering reality)

- Critical Thinking:
- Identifies underlying drivers of change (technology, research)
- Analyzes implications (reimagining teacher’s role)
- Acknowledges limitations and inequalities
- Uses metaphor effectively (sage on the stage, game-changer, gatekeepers)
- Shows awareness of global disparities

Theme 3: The Role and Status of Teachers in Society
Question 4: Do you think teachers are well-paid in your country? Why or why not?
- Key words: “well-paid”, “your country”
- Cách tiếp cận: State position → Compare với other professions/needs → Analyze reasons → Discuss consequences
📝 Sample Answer – Band 6-7:
“To be honest, I don’t think teachers in Vietnam are paid very well, especially compared to other professional jobs. Most teachers earn average salaries that make it difficult to have a comfortable life, particularly in big cities where living costs are high. I think this happens because the government budget for education is limited. This is unfortunate because teaching is an important job that shapes future generations, so teachers should receive better compensation to attract talented people to the profession.”
“I think this is quite a contentious issue in Vietnam, and my honest assessment is that teaching compensation remains inadequate relative to both the significance of the role and the qualifications required.
To put things in perspective, starting salaries for public school teachers in Vietnam are considerably lower than those in sectors like technology, finance, or even skilled trades. When you factor in the cost of living in urban centers and the amount of unpaid overtime that teaching often demands – lesson planning, grading, parent communications – the effective hourly rate becomes quite concerning. Many teachers are compelled to take on supplementary income sources like private tutoring just to make ends meet, which arguably compromises the quality of their primary work due to burnout and divided attention.
Several factors contribute to this situation. Foremost among them is the perennial challenge of public sector budget constraints. Education competes with healthcare, infrastructure, and defense for limited government resources, and unfortunately, teacher salaries often bear the brunt of fiscal austerity. There’s also a cultural dimension – while teachers are theoretically held in high esteem in Vietnamese society, this hasn’t translated into commensurate financial recognition. We seem to have this expectation that teachers should be motivated primarily by vocational calling rather than financial compensation, which is both unrealistic and unsustainable.
The ramifications of this are quite serious. Inadequate compensation risks creating a adverse selection problem – we might deter talented individuals from entering the profession while failing to retain excellent teachers who understandably gravitate toward more lucrative careers. Some of my most intellectually gifted peers from university who initially considered teaching have migrated to the private sector, which represents a significant loss of human capital for education.
That said, I should note there have been some incremental improvements in recent years with government initiatives to raise teacher salaries and provide additional allowances. However, I’d argue we’re still far from where we need to be if we’re serious about elevating the profession and ensuring quality education for future generations. International benchmarks from countries with high-performing education systems like Finland or Singapore show that competitive teacher compensation is not just beneficial but essential for educational excellence.”
Phân tích:
- Structure: Sophisticated với clear position → contextual comparison → causal analysis → consequences → acknowledgment of progress
- Vocabulary: Precise và academic (contentious issue, compensation remains inadequate, perennial challenge, bear the brunt of, adverse selection problem, incremental improvements)
- Grammar: Complex structures – passives, conditionals, relative clauses, participle phrases
- Critical Thinking:
- Provides specific comparison (technology, finance sectors)
- Multi-causal analysis (budget constraints, cultural factors)
- Discusses systemic implications (brain drain, adverse selection)
- References international context for credibility
- Acknowledges improvements while maintaining critical stance
- Shows understanding of economic concepts (effective hourly rate, human capital)
Question 5: How can society better support and value teachers?
🎯 Phân tích câu hỏi:
- Dạng: Problem-Solution – suggest improvements
- Key words: “better support”, “value”
- Cách tiếp cận: Identify current gaps → Propose concrete solutions across different dimensions (financial, social, professional) → Discuss implementation challenges
📝 Sample Answer – Band 6-7:
“There are several ways society can better support teachers. First, the government should increase their salaries to reflect the importance of their work. Second, we need to reduce their workload by hiring more teaching assistants and administrative staff. Also, society should show more respect for teachers and not blame them when students don’t perform well. Parents and media can help by highlighting positive stories about teachers. If we implement these changes, more talented people will choose teaching as a career.”
Phán tích:
- Structure: Lists solutions với some explanation
“This is a multifaceted challenge that requires coordinated efforts across several domains – financial, professional, and cultural.
On the financial front, we need comprehensive compensation reform that goes beyond just raising base salaries. This means creating competitive pay scales that benchmark against other professions requiring similar educational credentials, implementing performance-based incentives that reward excellence without narrowing education to test scores, and providing robust benefits packages including housing allowances in expensive urban areas, subsidized professional development, and adequate retirement provisions. Some countries have pioneered interesting models – for instance, Singapore’s system of accelerated career progression for high-performing teachers demonstrates how financial recognition can coexist with professional growth.
Equally important is alleviating the non-teaching burden that detracts from educators’ core mission. Teachers are increasingly overwhelmed by administrative tasks, bureaucratic compliance, and ancillary responsibilities that have little to do with actual instruction. Strategic investment in support staff, streamlined administrative processes, and leveraging technology for routine tasks could free up teachers to focus on what they do best – teaching and mentoring students. This speaks to respecting their professional time and expertise.
From a professional development perspective, we need to move away from the one-and-done model of teacher training. Establishing robust systems for ongoing learning – whether through peer collaboration networks, action research opportunities, or sabbaticals for advanced study – signals that we value teaching as a knowledge profession requiring continuous growth. Japan’s lesson study approach, where teachers collaboratively plan, observe, and refine lessons, exemplifies how structured professional learning can elevate practice across the board.
On the cultural dimension, we need to actively challenge the disconnect between the rhetorical respect we profess to have for teachers and our actual behavior. This involves everything from how education is portrayed in media – moving beyond simplistic narratives of either heroic saviors or failed incompetents – to how individual parents and communities interact with schools. Fostering a culture where teaching is seen as an intellectually demanding, professionally rigorous career comparable to medicine or law would help attract top talent and retain experienced educators.
It’s also worth considering structural reforms like reducing class sizes, which not only improves student outcomes but also makes teaching more manageable and rewarding. Countries that have implemented such reforms, like Finland with their class size caps, have seen positive ripple effects on both teacher satisfaction and student achievement.
Crucially, these initiatives require sustained political will and long-term investment. Quick fixes won’t suffice – we’re talking about systemic change that needs to be embedded in policy frameworks, adequately funded, and given time to bear fruit. But the return on investment is immense: a motivated, skilled teaching workforce is arguably the most powerful lever we have for societal progress.”
Phân tích:
- Structure: Highly sophisticated với thematic organization: financial → workload → professional development → cultural → structural → implementation considerations
- Vocabulary: Advanced và precise (multifaceted challenge, comprehensive reform, benchmark against, alleviating burden, ancillary responsibilities, rhetorical respect, sustained political will, return on investment)

1. Depth of Analysis (Chiều sâu phân tích):
Đừng chỉ nói giáo viên “good” hay “nice”. Phân tích why và how họ giỏi. Ví dụ:
- ❌ “She’s a good teacher because she’s patient.”
- ✅ “What makes her exceptional is her pedagogical empathy – she can anticipate where students might struggle and proactively address those challenges before they become obstacles.”
2. Specific Examples (Ví dụ cụ thể):
General statements cần được back up bằng concrete examples:
- ❌ “He makes classes interesting.”
- ✅ “He once organized a mock UN debate where we had to research and represent different countries’ positions on climate change – it transformed abstract political concepts into something tangibly relevant to our lives.”
3. Personal Reflection (Suy ngẫm cá nhân):
Đặc biệt quan trọng trong Part 2 và 3. Đừng chỉ describe, hãy reflect:
- ❌ “She taught me English.”
- ✅ “Her approach fundamentally shifted my mindset from viewing language as a set of rules to memorize to seeing it as a tool for expressing complex ideas – that cognitive shift has been invaluable not just in English but in how I approach learning generally.”
4. Balanced Perspective (Góc nhìn cân bằng):
Trong Part 3, tránh extreme positions. Thừa nhận complexity:
- ❌ “All teachers should use technology in their classes.”
- ✅ “While technology can certainly enhance learning when used judiciously, I think we need to be mindful that it’s a tool, not a panacea. The effectiveness ultimately depends on the teacher’s ability to integrate it meaningfully into their pedagogical approach.”
Common Mistakes và Cách Khắc Phục
Lỗi 1: Generic Descriptions
- Vấn đề: Nhiều thí sinh dùng từ quá chung chung: “good”, “nice”, “kind”, “friendly”
- Giải pháp: Thay bằng specific vocabulary:
- “friendly” → “approachable”, “warm demeanor”, “welcoming”
- “good” → “exceptional”, “outstanding”, “remarkable”, “exemplary”
- “nice” → “considerate”, “thoughtful”, “empathetic”
- Note taking strategy: Ghi 2-3 keywords cho mỗi bullet
Lỗi 3: Over-reliance on Memorized Answers
- Sử dụng natural speech features: hesitation devices (Well, Let me think…), self-correction, rephrasing
- Vấn đề: Trả lời 1-2 câu rồi dừng, khiến examiner phải hỏi follow-up
- Giải pháp:
- Aim for 4-6 câu mỗi answer
- Structure: Direct answer → Reason 1 + example → Reason 2 + example → Conclusion/qualification
- Practice extending với “Why?”, “How?”, “What are the implications?”
Time Management Tips
Cho Part 1 (4-5 phút):
- Mỗi câu trả lời: 20-30 giây (2-3 câu đầy đủ)
- Nếu examiner hỏi tiếp ngay → answer đủ ngắn gọn
- Nếu examiner đợi → bạn có thể extend thêm 1 câu
Cho Part 2 (3-4 phút total):
- 1 phút preparation: SỬ DỤNG HẾT!
- 10 giây: Đọc đề, hiểu hết bullet points
- 50 giây: Note keywords cho từng bullet + 1-2 examples
- 2 phút speaking: AIM FOR FULL 2 MINUTES
- Opening (5-10s): Introduce the person
- Bullet points (1.5-2 mins): Develop each thoroughly
- Closing (10-15s): Overall reflection
Cho Part 3 (4-5 phút):
- Mỗi answer: 40-60 giây (4-6 câu developed)
- Nếu câu hỏi phức tạp → có thể lên 60-90 giây
- Đừng rush – examiner muốn thấy depth
Pronunciation và Delivery Tips
2. Intonation Patterns:
- Rising intonation cho lists: “She’s patient↗, empathetic↗, and dedicated↘.”
- Falling intonation cho statements: “I think teachers deserve better compensation↘.”
- Rising-falling cho emphasis: “What really sets her a⤴part⤵ is her passion.”
3. Pausing for Effect:
Đừng sợ pauses – chúng làm speech natural và cho bạn thinking time:
- “The most important quality is… [pause] … pedagogical empathy.”
- “Technology has transformed education, [pause] but it’s not a panacea.”
4. Connected Speech:
Practice blending words như native speakers:
- “kind of” → “kinda” (informal context)
- “want to” → “wanna” (Part 1, casual)
- “going to” → “gonna” (natural speech)
- “should have” → “should’ve”
Lưu ý: Over-formal pronunciation nghe unnatural. Aim for clear nhưng natural speech.
Sample Note-taking Strategy for Part 2
WHO: Dr. Linh - math prof - 50s
HOW KNOW: Student - 2 yrs - calculus
SUBJECT: Advanced math - analysis
WHY GOOD:
• Socratic method - Qs not answers
• Ex: limits lesson - discovery
• Nurtures curiosity > grades
• Guest lectures - applications
• Projects - real problems
• Empathy - helped when struggling
IMPACT: inspired STEM career
Giải thích strategy:
- Use abbreviations để save time: “prof” = professor, “Qs” = questions, “Ex” = example
- Bullet points cho “why good” vì đây là longest section
- Note 1-2 specific examples (limits lesson, guest lectures) để elaborate
- Closing point về impact cho strong conclusion
Cách Xử Lý Khi Gặp Khó Khăn
Tình huống 1: Không Nghe Rõ Câu Hỏi
- ✅ “I’m sorry, could you repeat that please?”
- ✅ “Sorry, I didn’t quite catch that.”
- ❌ Đừng: “What?” hoặc im lặng confused
Tình huống 2: Không Biết Từ Vựng Cần Thiết
- Strategy: Paraphrase
- Ví dụ: Không nhớ “pedagogy” → dùng “teaching methods and approaches”
- Không nhớ “curriculum” → dùng “what is taught in class” hoặc “course content”
Tình huống 3: Blank Mind Giữa Part 2

- Then continue với một aspect khác
Tình huống 4: Examiner Looks Bored
- Đừng panic! Examiner phải maintain neutral face
- Không thay đổi strategy đột ngột
- Tiếp tục với confidence, maintain eye contact
Tình huống 5: Nói Quá Nhanh Do Nervous
- Self-correction mid-way:
- “Let me clarify that…”
- “What I mean is…”
- This actually shows language control
- Breathe between points: Natural pauses are good

Điều quan trọng nhất cần nhớ là: Authenticity matters more than perfection.
